Highlands Physicians Inc. (HPI) has three key partners that help to make the organization successful Highlands Wellmont Health Network and Wellmont Health System. Working with these partners, HPI is able to provide an optimal level of service to its member physicians.
Highlands Wellmont Health Network is a regional partnership of Wellmont Health System and Highlands Physicians Inc. that serves Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. Accredited by URAC as an integrated delivery network, this partnership enhances the region we serve by providing a clinically integrated healthcare delivery system committed to quality, patient focus, collaboration, integrity, compassion and fiscal responsibility.
Wellmont Health System provides inpatient, outpatient and clinic services through its eight hospitals located throughout the service area. Wellmont’s operations also include local surgery centers, home health, home infusion, home respiratory and medical equipment, pharmacies, hospice, and other services.
Highlands Wellmont Health Network is the venue through which its many providers may participate in managed care organization (MCO) networks to ensure the MCO enjoys the virtues of contracting with a clinically integrated healthcare delivery system that functions as the nucleus of its provider network servicing the Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia markets. So doing should negate the need for the MCO to extend its infrastructure of clinical integration to this local market. It is within this context that HWHN, as a provider-owned and operated physician hospital organization, contracts with MCO’s.
